At its most basic a brand is the identity of a specific owned personality, service, business, product, and more recently, a persona. Brands can be signified by many forms of communication including a name, sign, symbol, color combination, slogan or even a sound.
The word brand began simply as a way to tell one person’s products or commodities from another’s by means of a mark. A legally protected brand name is typically called a trademark. The word brand has continued to evolve to include identity and now encompasses the personality of a product, company or service. The most important reason to build, hold and protect a brand is that it can be worth more, much more, than the cost of the goods or services you produce. Simply that means more money earned per dollar invested in goods sold or services rendered.
So, simply put, if you create something (almost anything) it is worth protecting and promoting it under a protected brand identity. That does not have to cost a lot, but it does take discipline.Often the discipline required to promote and protect the brand Is more difficult then spending money on it.
